This Guided Rides - Newcastle ride is open for anyone to join

Let’s celebrate the opening of Wylam resurfaced wagonways together…

Sustrans, Wylam Parish Council and British Cycling Guided Rides have teamed up for a family fun event along the resurfaced Wylam Wagonways.

Meeting point for all the activities is the Sustrans Gazebo located in Wylam Car Park, Tyne River Country Park NE41 8DW

Events
10am – 10.50am (weather permitting) - Chalking the wagonways. - Meet Danny at the Sustrans Gazebo and get create while using chalk to draw on the resurfaced wagonways.

11am – Official opening ceremony “Cutting of the ribbon”.

11.15am – British Cycling Guided Ride to Newburn Country Park and Back.

1pm - 1.50pm - Plug planting. Meet Danny at the Sustrans Gazebo and go plug planting along the wagonway with him.


Information about our bike ride.

Our Guided Ride Starts after the official cutting of the ribbon opening ceremony and we will be following the resurfaced wagonway to Newburn Country Park. On the way we will be able to see the chalk designs done earlier in the day and wildlife.

When we arrive at Newburn Country Park you will have time for a snack and drink before we follow the same route back.

The ride in total is 6 miles, flat, at a leisurely pace and suitable for everyone to take part.


IMPORTANT STUFF….

It’s now Spring cycling weather, PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY it can get cold in the shade.

• You should pay particular attention to your bike being in good working order before attending a ride so as to minimise risks and disruption to rides
.
• helmets are compulsory for under-18s, and recommended but not compulsory for adults.

Remember to bring:-
- Gloves,
- Drink,
- Snacks,
- Lock,
- Spare inner tube,
- Tyre levers and pump,
- Suitable clothing,

If the weather is bad we will only contact you if we are cancelling the ride and will do so no later than 9am on the day by putting a message in the ‘conversation’ tab in the ride. You should receive a notification by email if there is a message. If you have not heard from us we are still riding
