This is a leisurely day trip to allow us to venture a bit further than normal. The total distance is 30 miles, but it’s divided into three sections of 10 miles with good rest stops in between them, as well as plenty of shorter pauses. The route is nearly all flat. Most of the route is on cycle paths and quiet roads. We'll always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no-one is left behind.
We’ll head from Chandler’s Ford via North Baddesley to Eling – where we’ve discovered a delightful new coffee and cake stop. After refreshments we can venture into the New Forest and then make our way to Hythe for lunch on the waterfront. The Lord Nelson pub provides sandwiches, jacket potatoes etc., or bring sandwiches if you prefer. After lunch we’ll catch the ferry back to Southampton and make our way home using some hidden backways.
As well as coffee and lunch you’ll need some money for the ferry. It’s £7 for an adult plus bike (£5 for concessions).
Please dress appropriately for the weather. Suncream may be needed (hopefully)! Wearing a helmet is advisable. You may wish to bring a spare tube in case of a puncture. The Breeze Champions will help with any mechanical problems as far as they are able, but are not trained or insured to mend your bike.
If the weather is wet the ride may be postponed . A leader will be at the start to advise accordingly.
Car parking is available at the station. Look forward to seeing you there.
