A challenging ride to Charlton House, in Charlton, funnily enough.
This route takes us through Mottingham and Eltham to reach Charlton park. We will have a coffee stop at the Old Cottage Coffee Shop before admiring Charlton House, a Jacobean mansion in the grounds of Charlton Park. We will return via Blackheath Standard, turning off along Westcombe park road to reach the inland Thames path to Greenwich, and then back along the Waterlink Way as far as the big blue bridge at Bell Green. From this point, participants have a choice of a return route.
This is a challenging, undulating route, not only in terms of distance but also because there are a couple of short steep hills, one of which at least we will dismount and walk; and a some stretches of busy roads, albeit with a designated cycle path. You should be confident about riding in traffic. We will go at the pace of the slowest rider.
Please call the leader, Jacqui Turner on 07456840924, if you have booked but there are problems on the day.
