Loughborough

The Charnwood Forest route combines Loughborough's urban cycle routes with a loop out into beautiful Charnwood Forest.  We head south out of Loughborough on cycle route 5 along peaceful Woodbrook Way, picking up cycle route 3 then heading through the Haddon Way estate to take the track out to Woodhouse.  From Woodhouse the route through the Forest takes in Swithland, Cropston, Rothley, with a stop for refreshments at Stonehurst Family Farm in Mountsorrel.  We return to Loughborough along the national cycle route 6 to Woodthorpe, then move away from Epinal Way to take a quiet route through Shelthorpe.  The final stretch of the route returns to the leisure centre along cycle route 5. If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
