Poynton Civic Hall

This route wanders through quaint villages, tree-lined roads and the gorgeous vista that are the plains of Cheshire.

Starting in the cosmopolitan Poynton the route immediately leaves the congestion behind to breathe in the fresh countryside air. The route passes by the 500 year old Adlington Hall and the Grade II listed Mottram Hall and finds the quietest roads towards Over Alderley. From there you follow the National Cycling Route 70 to Marton, home of a 1200 year old Oak tree and Chapeau Cafe and Farm Shop. The cafe is a cycle friendly and stocks spare parts just in case there are any issues en route. Next you cycle to The Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Manchester, home to the Lovell Telescope, the third largest steerable radio telescope in the world.

The route continues North West, passing by open farmlands and the quaint village of Marthall before winding its's way to affluent Alderley Edge. The National trust owned Alderley Edge is named after the high ground separating Cheshire and Derbyshire. From Alderley Edge you cycle east back towards Mottram St Andrews, re-joining the route back past Mottram Hall and Adlington Hall before entering back into Poynton.
