Starting point

Lancashire
PR7 1QS

The route passes through Chorley to Charnock Richard, Wrightington, Shevington, Gathurst, Orrell Post, Crank and Windle. We are forced to use a short section of the East Lancs road, albeit on a cycle path, due to the inpenetrable prescence of the Knowsley estate of the Earl of Derby. Thereafter we can pass through Croxteth and Newsham Parks and through the City to Ryde Cafe, situated in the old Cairns Brewery, for Lunch.
The return leg will be through the Albert Dock and Pier head waterfront, which tend to be crowded even on a Sunday, but can be ridden through with care. From here we can go along Regent Road (the old Dock road) then towards Aintree, including a short section of the Trans Pennine Trail and cycle paths skirting the racecourse. A short section of the Leeds Liverpool canal follows to Melling then mainly back roads to Bickerstaffe, skirting Skelmersdale to Newburgh, Parbold and Eccelston returning to Astley Park via back lane and Euxton.
Busy roads have been kept to a minimum but this is not an easy task.
The displayed route is only the outgoing leg. No major climbs, 1,082 ft of ascent and
1,279 ft of descent. The return leg is flatter with only 688ft of ascent and 459ft of descent
Total distance 65miles
NO ONE will be left behind.
