Christmas Ride to the Woodhead Mountain Rescue HQ

Please note that the postcode for the start address, covers a wide area and may take you to the wrong place. You need to go to the bottom of ‘Finkle Street Lane’ from Wortley, turn right just before the railway bridge and we meet behind the riding stables at Cote Green Farm.

The Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team do an excellent job in the local area, including helping cyclists who have had an accident and cannot be reached by ambulance alone, they seem to spend a lot of time in Grenoside/Wharncliffe woods rescuing MTB rides. Their team relies completely on donations and support from the public and are extremely grateful of the support that they receive from everyone.

The route will take us along the TPT towards Dunford Bridge, however we will come off at A616 and then have 3 miles on the road. If it is muddy, we will go around on the road at the start to Thurgoland!

The proceeds from all the drinks & cakes bought, will go to support them and additionally there will be the opportunity to buy some of their merchandise. There will be a team member and several volunteers on hand, to answer questions about the role of the Mountain Rescue, which I know will be of interest to many of you.

Please bring the usual spares for your bikes and cash for your drinks & cakes. Please advise me if you require Gluten Free or Vegan etc.
