Starting point

Midlothian
EH12 6AA

Starting in Roseburn the route heads into the city along the 2-way cycle lanes, passing through the city centre on George St then joining the new cycleways again on Leith Walk.

The pace will be gentle, being mindful of pedestrians, traffic and bike only traffic lights. This is a good opportunity to explore the new cycleways that make cycling in the city much easier.

After the refreshment stop, there's a short section on road before joining the Hawthornvale cycle path, then it is cycle path all the way back to Roseburn.

Route rating

An explore of the new cycleways from Roseburn through the city centre and onto the shore in Leith.

The route follows the new 2 way cycleways into the city centre, then through the city along cycle lanes and onto cycleways again down Leith Walk. The return is along the cycle paths from Leith ending on the Roseburn path.

The refreshment stop will be in one of the cafes beside the shore, such as Toast or Mimi's.

Helmets are strongly advised, wear clothing appropriate for the weather and it's always a good idea to bring waterproofs. Also bring a means of payment if you wish to buy a refreshment at the stop, bring spare inner tubes should the unthinkable happen and a bike lock if you have one.
