Starting in Clydach we proceed north on NCN43 as far as Swansea Valley Tyre and exhaust. We then proceed southbound alongside the Swansea Canal to the Ynysmeudwy Arms. The route to Pontardawe can be alongside the Swansea Canal, or along the Ynysmeudwy Road, depending on conditions. From Pontardawe the route returns to NCN43, finishing in Clydach.

This is a gentle out-and back trip to a friendly tavern. We used to stop at the Ynysmeudwy Arms, but they are now closed on Mon/Tue evenings, so we go to The Gwachel (Pontardawe Inn).

We will be riding 90% off-road on the most picturesque cycle route in the Swansea Valley. There are two low bridges beside the canal. Less confident riders can opt to dismount. Alongside the Swansea Canal it can be muddy if there has been recent rain. There are two M-gates to negotiate on the way back, as well as three steps. If this is a problem, then we can take the road.

We will be stopping at the Pontardawe Inn, therefore please bring cash or card if you wish to purchase any refreshment. We sit outside, rain or shine.

Please bring an optional face-mask, sanitiser, and cash/card for refreshments.

We never leave anyone behind
