Starting point

Inverness
HS6 5DL

A social paced over the committee loop on scenic roads with stunning views out to the west coast of North Uist.

Approximately 17 miles on single track roads with a hill climb of 561 ft (171m) that provides plenty of long flat sections to rest on the way up. Once at the top there’s a chance to catch your breath, enjoy the views and maybe catch sight of a bird of prey before descending to the stunning sight of Bhalaigh (Vallay) Island. We will then cycle south on the west side of the Island turning down through Hougharry for a stop at the Dunes Cabin before returning to our start point in Bayhead.

Brief stop for Bird of Prey Bird of Prey Trail - Committee Road Isle Of North Uist – surrounded by rolling moorland and young plantations this is a hotspot for hen harriers and short-eared owls. The roadside car park is an excellent vantage point from which to watch. Merlin's are often seen perching on prominent boulders in the heather moorland and this is one of the few areas on Uist where the elusive long-eared owl is found.
