Confidence Builder: Navigating Safely to Gladstone Park and Paddington Rec

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING.
This is an easygoing ride to help inexperienced riders to cycle on roads, and find some quiet routes around our neighbourhood. We will cycle to Gladstone Park and Paddington Recreational Ground.

The route is a mix of quiet roads, a segregated cycling lane and the odd busy road so we can learn how to safely position on roads. Once we get to Paddington Rec, we will stop for a coffee and a rest, before we return to Roundwood Park via Queen’s Park. This route is mostly flat.

The purpose of this ride is to give instructions and tips on how to safely navigate on roads. It is designed for people who can ride their bikes comfortably, but haven’t cycled on roads and would like to build their confidence in traffic and learn some cycling-friendly routes.

IMPORTANT POINTS: Helmets aren't compulsory but highly advisable. Make sure that your tyres are pumped and you have a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. If you develop Covid-19 symptoms or have been told to self-isolate, or can't make it for any other reason, please cancel your space so someone else can join. Only riders who booked themselves on the ride will be allowed to join. Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a rain coat just in case.
