For this week's ride we plan to head out into the beautiful countryside from Blanchland. It's a hilly one that should give us some stunning views. Heading out from Blanchland, we cross the bridge and into County Durham. After a couple of miles we turn left to head onto the North side of the Reservoir, passing a nature reserve. We ride along the north shore before turning north away from the reservoir. It's worth stopping at the top to look at the view. After a short section on the A68, we turn down past the manors inn pub. The road takes us past the dam on the reservoir and through the picturesque village of Edmundbyers. Heading along the South shore we head back towards Blanchland. At 15 miles we will pass through Blanchland. There is a further 4 mile loop, which its hilly but worth it to look back on the view over the reservoir. If anyone has had enough there is the option to retreat to the White Monks tearoom in Blanchland where we will finish our ride! The rhubarb jam is highly recommended!
