Starting point

Nottinghamshire
NG12 3SJ

We will head out from Cotgrave Country Park Car Park along the Grantham Canal as far as Cropwell Bishop. This section of the towpath has some mud/grass parts. We then swap the towpath for country lanes passing through Langar, Harby (option for a pub stop), Hose and Long Clawson. At Hickling, we will visit the Old Wharf cafe, picturesquely situated right on the canal. We then head back along the canal to Cotgrave. Just over 23 miles and mostly flat.

An easy-going ride along the Grantham Canal towpath and round the villages south-east of Cotgrave. Cake/lunch stop at the Old Wharf, Hickling Basin.

A mix of mud/grass towpath (small section), gravel towpath and road. I've ridden it on a road bike and been fine but it may be better suited to other bike types.

Old Wharf - A lovely cafe at Hickling Basin right on the canal. It's about two thirds of the way through the route so we can always call in for a refresher at the Nag's Head in Harby (just before the halfway point) if we are thirsty.

Please wear a helmet and bring anything you may need to fix a mechanical. We never leave anyone behind. Stronger riders are invited to spin faster to keep the same pace as the group. Under 16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

First-timers welcome!
