Starting point

East Yorkshire
HU16 5QW

Starting at King George V playing fields, the route takes us through the grounds to Park Lane. The route will then take us along quiet country lanes and tracks towards Long Lane and on to A1174. Here we will cross the road on to Ferry Lane. Following the quiet lane around, it will become Thearne Lane and we will return to A1174 and cross again near the first garden centre. Following the road, on cycle track, we will arrive at the second garden centre. Here we will stop for a break, drinks and snacks, before making the return journey. With very little traffic this is a pleasant ride over flat terrain through the countryside surrounding Cottingham and can be enjoyed by riders of all levels of ability and experience.

Early Risers Ride. Get the weekend off to a great start with an early ride. Finish before lunch time and enjoy the rest of the weekend

Most of the route is well surfaced so any bike type will get you through. There are a couple of farm tracks but if negotiated carefully, road bikes will survive.

Please wear a cycle helmet and appropriate clothing (lycra is not essential!). It may be of benefit to carry a spare innertube, puncture repair kit and appropriate tools and pump. Rain is possible so some waterproofs too

All riders welcome whatever your experience or bike. New riders, those wishing to dust off their bikes and all regular riders are welcome. This is a nice steady ride of a little under 12 miles. Speed will not be of importance. Riding and enjoying the countryside so close to home early on Saturday morning will leave you free for family and friends time for the rest of the weekend.
