Discover Coventry's heritage and role in the development of the bicycle on our easygoing guided ride, for adults and children (5-15), around the UK City of Culture 2021 in partnership with Historic Coventry Trust.
This is a leisurely ride on city centre streets with lots of stops at points of interest along the way from the Starley Statue on Greyfriars Green to Lady Herbert's Garden by Coventry Transport Museum, where you can get refreshments. We aim to finish by lunchtime, but if you want to make a day of it there are lots more Heritage Open Day experiences you can book online
www.heritageopendays.org.uk and City of Culture events to enjoy.

www.historiccoventrytrust.org.ukThis ride is part of Heritage Open Days 10th-19th September. For more Cycle History and the latest developments, visit Our 'Future Moves' exhibition at Coventry Transport Museum, which is free to visit on 11th and 12th September.
http://transport-museum.comOur guided ride starts at Coventry's newest building, the Visitor Information Centre, opposite the Railway Station. From there you'll be taken around the city centre to uncover the hidden history of the bicycle industry: Did you know that one of the city's most famous buildings sits on the site of a bicycle factory? You'll also see the work of Historic Coventry Trust in bringing buildings back into use, including the City Gates by Lady Herbert's Garden and also see the transformation of the public realm for City of Culture.
(Bikes for ages 16+ are available to hire nearby from West Midlands Cycle Hire docking stations. New users can download the Beryl App and get their first 30 minute ride free, then it's 5p/minute, so just £3 for the 90 minute tour).
