This ride will climb from sea level, over 1,400 feet onto the Moors, to Princetown. We'll be stopping there for a light picnic before returning to Plymouth.
The route will initially follow Route 27 to Yelverton (tarmac cycle track, traffic free), we'll then ride a short way on a main road before turning down a quiet country lane to take us to Burrator. We'll turn off just before Burrator and then follow the old tram way (dirt cycle track, traffic free) all the way to Princetown. The tramway is not the smoothest bike track, it's mostly hard packed dirt, thats been flattened by bikes and padetrians over several years. It can be easily ridden on but is slower going than most tracks due to random bigger rocks.
Toilets are available at the start/finish of the ride, there may also be facilities in Princetown but due to Covid, these are not guaranteed. There are plenty of big rocks and hedges on route.
All participants are expected to carry a spare inner tube AND tools suitable to carry out a roadside repair for your bike; and wear a helmet please.
PLEASE NOTE: In the ride blurb, it states suitable bike types and "road/racers/drop downs" are not included, so jump on your hybrids / MTB's, kick back, relax and enjoy the company, as this will be a group ride at a "steady" hybrid pace. Bikes with front suspension are highly recommended !
