Dropping downhill to Hurley, we board “Bryan Ferry” for a short trip across the river to Marlow, where we then climb away gradually towards Freith. A long drop down through Fingest into Turville to climb out again to our coffee stop at Turville Heath. A mostly easy few miles follow via Fawley to drop down to cross back over the Thames at Hambleden Lock, with our final climb up Aston Lane back to the start. Ferry cost is £2.50. (cash or card)
A few climbs on this route, so not one for those who don't enjoy hills, but plenty of long downhills as our reward. Ferry takes max 4 bikes at a time, so if we have more, the first group will need to wait a few mins for the rest to catch up.
Coffee stop at The Ploughman's Cafe, at the Barn, Turville Heath
Cycle helmets are compulsory. Please check your bike the night before, chain oiled, tyres fully inflated (makes it easier!), and always carry a spare inner tube suitable for your tyre size. And preferable two! And a pump which you know fits your valve.
