Croydon, Bromley Parks and Petts Wood, Scadbury Park, Foots Cray Meadows, Joyden's Wood, Swanley

Sunday 13th September. Last month we had a ride that gave us five miles of continuous woodland trails. This ride features seven miles in nearly continuous woodland and meadow. That's after South Norwood Lake, Crystal Palace Park, Beckenham Place Park and Jubilee Country Park. It is hillier then usual and there is gravel riding in the second half. The first 16 miles is nearly all tarmac and other smooth surface. The rest of the 25 1/2 mile ride is mostly not. It is a taste of cycling in managed nature, fun and wholesome! After lunch we will ride all the way through the mile long Petts Wood wood before the longer Scadbury Park woods taking us to Foots Cray Meadows beside the River Cray, then Joyden's Wood, bridleways and a bit more country cycling.

We'll set off from Queens Gardens CR0 1GY at 10am. Lunch at 15.5 miles in Petts Wood, another break at 22 miles then a ride to Swanley train station to return. The ride is 25 1/2 miles. We could quite likely be at Swanley station by estimated 3:30pm but then there is the train back. It will take an hour. Change at Bromley South and there are route options.

For enough grip and cushioning you will need 35mm or wider tyres. Please bring a spare inner tube.
