Sunday 9th August we ride east from Croydon to Petts Wood and back.
There will be many pleasant off road stretches to enjoy. Woods, lakes, trails, parks, two country parks, a bridleway, tree lined cycle paths, they are all there. We have a refreshment stop in Keston after visiting Keston Common and lunch in Petts Wood suburb before enjoying a peaceful ride around the beautiful big woods called Petts Wood and returning on our loop route. The coming back is faster than going out and much flatter.
This is a longer ride than usual, and hillier too. The distance is 31 miles and the total climb over that distance is 1175 feet. Very rewarding though. The surfaces are rough in places and I don’t recommend riding on tyres less than 32mm wide. Hybrid or gravel bikes are best for this route but you can do it on a road bike with wide enough tyres if you are skillful.
We start in Queens Gardens CR0 1GY at 10am. We will probably not be back before 5pm. Bring a lock. You will need a water bottle. Please bring a spare inner tube.
