Breeze Durham is delighted to contribute to Durham County Council’s Cycle September campaign which is part of a global campaign involving individuals and their workplaces competing worldwide to raise the profile of cycling while enjoying themselves. https://www.lovetoride.net/uk
Our offer is a 6 mile ride (approx 1 hour) for women, starting at County Hall, Durham which we hope will fit in perfectly to the end of the working day. It is primarily aimed at County Hall employees but it is open to any woman to join.
We’ve chosen a favourite route of ours - a surprising 6 mile circuit largely on traffic free cycle routes past the Police HQ, Newton Hall, Brasside, Frankland Lane, back along the River Wear, past Crook Hall and up Framwellgate Perth to County Hall.
In true Durham style there are some hills but they are worth the effort for the lovely views of the Cathedral from Frankland Lane and the sense of achievement.
The ride is most suitable for hybrid bikes as it is a mix of surfaces however any bike will manage it.
In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Please make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. We should be riding for about an hour.
As always we can’t predict the weather so please dress suitably. You are better to be overdressed as you can always take layers off.

For any last minute cancellations on the day please text 07493808927 (note this phone is only for the day of the ride) otherwise use the option to cancel when you log in to letsride.co.uk. If the weather is bad we will only contact you if we are cancelling the ride and will do so no later than 3pm on the day. If you have not heard from us it is going ahead.
If you’ve signed up to Cycle September via the website (see above) you can log your rides and earn points. The more points you earn, the further you climb the leaderboards and the better your chances are of winning prizes. You could win bikes, holidays, vouchers and more.
