The View Tube, The Greenway, Marshgate Lane, London

This is a parks ride with a difference - an opportunity to explore London's new riverside walk in the making - what will eventually be a new continuous walking and cycling route connecting Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to the River Thames and Royal Docks. On this ride, we will be taking a look at the new Twelvetrees Ramp, although we may not be able to use it yet. It will creat a new connection between the existing Lee River path to the south of Three Mills and the eastern riverside walk which goes to Cody Dock. After a short stop at Cody Dock to see what improvements have been made by the volunteers working there, we will continue down the Lee River path to the Bow Creek Ecology Park, which is tucked away in one of the bends of lower Lee River. The path to Canning Town is now open and we can try out the new bridge which takes us onto City Island and gives us a brand new route to get to Trinity Buoy Wharf, where we will stop for a refreshment break. We return to the View Tube by cycling through Keir Hardie Recreation Ground, Star Lane Park, Memorial Recreation Ground, West Ham Park and Forest Lane Park. Ride leader Nigel Bee (tel: 07415 315 690 email: [email protected]). For more details, and the route, see http://www.hampsteadhorticulturalsociety.org.uk/greenwichcyclists/node/154
