Last year there was a social ride to Farningham: https://www.letsride.co.uk/rides/farningham-social-fitness-ride.

This year we are going to organise a similar ride, except that it will be run under the auspices of Cyclists in Southwark, so we can all go in it, rather than just those of us who are members of the Over The Hills Cyclists Facebook page (https://m.facebook.com/groups/121211155106718).

As this is the third Saturday in the month, our meeting place will be Cutty Sark Gardens at 9.30am. We will then start the ride by following the Thames Path eastwards, making use of the brand new "missing link" section, which takes us to Woolwich. You can also meet us at the car entrance to the Woolwich Ferry at 10.15am. We then follow the Ridgeway Path, which now includes a Bexley Section and cycle via Southmere lake to Lesnes Abbey and Erith. At Dartford we join the Darent River path which takes us to Horton Kirby and Farningham. I recommend we stop for lunch either at the Lion (https://www.vintageinn.co.uk/restaurants/east/thelionfarningham/gallery) or, if they are too busy, at the brand new Beefeater restaurant at the SE corner of Joyden's Wood (https://www.beefeater.co.uk/steak-restaurant/Kent/Bull-Swanley.html).

After lunch we seek out a difficult to find SE entrance to Swanley Park, where we pass by the lake and model railway. We then cycle on past Joyden's Wood to Bexley, where people can return home by train or can cycle back to Cutty Sark Gardens.
