From Dalkeith we head towards the schools campus via thorny bank roundabout to join route 1 towards Edinburgh. Before smeaton station we head south and reach smeaton shaw farm road and then south towards the road for Elphinston. At cross gate hall go straight over and join the pencaitland railway walk on the left. Then we stay on the railway walk until it ends at Saltoun. From there we turn left towards west and then east Saltoun. From there we head east towards Gifford. There is a park on the right after reaching Gifford
