Please join me for this challenging ride including an optional extra up the Marchlyn Mawr hill climbs – I believe it’s the highest point in North Wales you can cycle up to (on a road) with a peak elevation of 2,074ft (632meters).
We start at Llanberis for a warm up loop around Llanrug, Pontrug, and Penisa'r Waun, then head to Deiniolen for the Marchlyn Mawr hill climb (2.8km with 275m ascent) and Surge Pool hill climb (2.9km with 180m ascent). Once back in Dinorwig we circle back through Clwt-y-bont and return to Llanberis.
If you wish to complete the Marchlyn Mawr hill climb as part of this ride you will need to sign up to both this ride and the Dambusters II optional extra ride which can be found here:
https://www.letsride.co.uk/rides/dambusters-ii-to-the-roof-of-north-wales-optional-extra-up-marchlyn-mawr[A separate sign up is required as the Marchlyn Mawr hill climb will be led by a qualified MTB leader as it is a closed road].
Mixture of some cycle path, A-roads, narrow country lanes.
This ride is weather dependent. We won't ride if there are strong winds (20mph+) or it is pouring with rain.
This ride is 'no frills' as there is NO café stop. We will have some roadside stops to have a drink/snack (bring your own).
Please note that the road up to Marchlyn Mawr is a closed road and you will need to lift your bike over the gate.
Ideal for Breeze riders who want to challenge themselves and have fun! And those who are new to Breeze rides are very welcome. This ride is classified as ‘challenging’ and we will be completing the ride at an average pace of approx. 20kph (12mph). Please be sure you are confident that you can keep to this pace before signing up. We ride up hills at our own pace and regroup at the top. We never leave anyone behind.
I always carry extra supplies (just in case!): sweets; water; period products; first aid kit; and puncture repair patches. So please let me know if you ever need anything.
Please do let me know if there’s anything I need to know or can do to help to make this ride more accessible for you.
