Starting point

South Yorkshire
S6 6RW

Come and join us for a scenic ride around Dam Flask and Strines. Starting on Loxley Road at the top of Rowell Lane we will ride along Loxley Road to Damflask before a long steady climb alongside the reservoir. We turn left at the top of the climb and drop down Lamb Hill until we reach Low Bradfield when we turn left and ride over the bridge before turning left onto Mill Lee Road and then left onto New Road. We continue along New Road and then turn left back up Loxley Road to complete one circuit of Damflask remerging back into Low Bradfield after our descent down Lamb Hill. Turning left and over the little bridge we take a right onto Fair House Lane before a long steady climb up Blindside Lane, which winds through the trees before emerging onto open moorland with beautiful views across Dale Dyke and Strines Reservoirs. At the top of Blindside Lane we'll turn right and continue up Sugworth Road until we reach Mortimer Road. We then have a long, steady downhill past the Strines Inn followed by a short steep descent before a moderate climb. Just after the top of the hill we turn right and drop down a pretty winding lane that takes us back down to Low Bradfield. We'll stop at the Flask End cafe for coffee and cake before continuing along mostly flat or downhill roads back to the start.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
We recommend that all participants wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; we recommend that you also carry at least one spare inner tube, pump and water bottle. If you have a mechanical problem we will do our best to assist you and/or lend you an inner tube or repair kit if we can, but it is always best to be self-reliant. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
