There are a choice of routes from the Emirates, we can cycle towards the city centre either along the Clyde Walkway, or via the cycle path towards Bridgeton and Glasgow Green. We can go the opposite direction on the Clyde cycle path towards Cambuslang. We'll go how far we can get in the time that we have. We'll cycle a short route, suitable for anyone new to cycling or who hasn't been out on a bike for a while, or anyone happy to cycle at a leisurely pace.

There are a number of route options from the Emirates, we'll make use of cycle paths when we can, however be prepared to cycle on the road, when we need to. There will be lots of helpful advice and instruction - so don't worry if you have never cycled on the road before, this will be the perfect ride to give it a try! Most on-road routes have protected infrastructure, and there are a lot of cycle paths we can use.

We can stop whenever we want or need to! Sometimes we will stop to catch our breath, sometimes we will stop to take a photo, sometimes we will stop to take in the view - we're out to enjoy ourselves, so please let the ride leader know if there are any stops you want us to make.

Bikes are available at the Emirates, please message the ride leader if you want to borrow one - we only have a few. Please dress for the weather, wearing whatever is comfortable for you on the bike. Generally clothing should not flap about at the ankles, as it can get caught in the chain, and watch for any clothing catching on the saddle. A rucksack is helpful for carrying your stuff, so you don't need to tie a jacket around your waist. Bring water and snacks, because cycling can be thirsty work and snacks will keep you fuelled. A mobile phone and cash is helpful for emergencies.

First-timers welcome!
