East Kent Breeze Coalfields Summer Special Ride

Come and join us for a scenic and fun-filled day in the saddle while we take on the Kent Coalfield Cycling Quiz Trail! This unique ride combines cycling in the beautiful East Kent countryside with exploring the local history, as we follow a route inspired by the area’s rich mining heritage.

We’ll start our journey at the Kent Mining Museum and follow quiet country lanes through picturesque landscapes, stopping along the way at various heritage spots. At several of these stops, you’ll have the chance to take part in our cycling quiz - a fun way to explore the landmarks.

We estimate that it will take 5-6 hours to complete, with about 3.5 h of cycling. The total distance is 34 miles and it’s a hilly route with a total elevation of 660m. For this reason the ride is graded as challenging, suitable for stronger cyclists, and those cyclists with e-bikes.

Our options for refreshment stop will be the Colonel’s Cafe at Shepherdswell. There will also be opportunity to buy drinks and snacks from local stores in some of the villages like Aylesham.
