This is a ride for people interested in doing more leisure cycling and to celebrate Mental Health Day so good company and great "crack" are our main aim on this ride.

We will be starting our ride opposite the school entrance making our way to the cycle path near Cockermouth Cemetery from here we will have a gradual climb up Strawberry How road to the road bridge.
Just after Bouch House we turn right onto Hundith Hill road, then first left onto a quiet tarmac country lane which is a nice downhill section with plenty of freewheeling to rest the legs after the earlier climb. This little used lane joins the B5292, which we will follow for just under a mile before taking another quiet lane leading us to the post office in Lorton where we would normally stop for a comfort break and cake. But don't get too excited because sadly (for us) the post office is closed this week (as the owner is away on holiday) so we will carry on to Cross Gates.
As a group we will decide where to stop for our own brought along snacks and a photo stop where there is a great view.
Turning left at Cross Gates we will follow another quiet lane that takes us to Hopebeck and Millbeck, and then onto Scalegill Bridge.
Just after Scalehill Bridge we turn north, joining the road to Thackthwaite which continues to the imaginatively name Mill where we cross over the River Cocker and continue to Lorton Hall.
From here we will follow the B5289 back to Cockermouth which is a nice easy section to finish off our ride.
As described above there are plenty of quiet country lanes on this ride which are normally traffic-free. All the B roads we will follow have low traffic levels and are suitable for road bikes, hybrids and any E-bike rider's.
We always travel at the slowest rider's speed with support and encouragement, so no one is ever left behind. This is to enhances our enjoyment of leisurely cycling within the safety of our group.

Please bring with you a road worthy bike, your helmet, clothes you are comfortable cycling in, easy to remove layers work best, a waterproof jacket, as you never know, a drink for along the way & some form of snack for our "View Stop". An inner tube that fits your bike is always a good idea, (just in case) as is a set of working bike lights at this time of year as darker afternoons easily turn into darker evenings.
All new comers are very welcome to our Easy B2B group, this also includes e-bike rider's with a fully charged battery.
