This is a easy pased off-road ride (with some roads to link up). The ride is ideal for those who are relatively new to off-road riding, are returning to mountain biking or just fancy a slow paced off-road ride.
The ride will leave head out of Winchester up Whiteshute Lane and loop back via St Catherine's Hill. Whiteshute Lane and the first section south of Olivers Battery are muddy and slippery, we are then on gravel and tarmac until the climb up the St Catherine's Hill bridleway which will be slow going as it's grassy.
Hoops Winchester have kindly offered to show us how to get our bikes clean after the ride and to keep them working so we can carry on riding through muddy autumn/winter conditions.
We will ride at an easy pace and make sure everyone is comfortable with handling their bike off road - whether it is a gravel bike, hybrid or mountain bike.
Helmets are compulsory, we recommend wearing sports glasses. Please double check your bike is trail ready before attending and bring a repair kit (you don't need to be able to do it yourself, we work together and learn a few new skills at the same time) plus plenty of layers and gloves to keep you warm and dry.
Please bring water and a snack although we can stop for a warning drink before making our way back to Hoops.
