This a picturesque and fairly flat route via Essex, mainly on countryside roads and ideal for those who are comfortable with the 50-mile distance or are currently covering a slightly shorter mileage and want to challenge themselves by taking it to the next level.

The ride starts in Victoria Park and goes via East London towards Laughton, Epping Forrest, Toot Hill, Ongar, Stapleford Abbots and finishes on the same roads when approaching East London. The route is a mix of cycle and countryside lanes but there are also short sections on busy roads, especially around London. It’s mainly flat with a few inclines and Toot Hill. The pace will be steady, averaging around 20-21km per hour (circa 13 mph), which is slightly faster than commuting. In terms of bike types, road or good hybrid bikes are recommended although there is no need to be clipped to pedals.

The coffee/cake/lunch stop is planned in Ethos café, which is just after Ongar or, 35km before our final stop in Victoria Park.

Please bring something to drink and snacks, spare inner tubes, pump, and everything else you usually take on your rides. If you have any questions about the ride, please feel free to get in touch. I will also be sending a message with final notes and a GPX file (if you wish to have one) towards the end of the week.
