Meet at Cutty Sark Gardens to cycle to find the Faesten Dic, one of the best preserved ancient earthworks in the South-East. This is our route: https://goo.gl/BPL6jO
The Faesten Dic is in Joyden’s Wood, a Woodland Trust site that is sandwiched between the A2 and A20, near Bexley,. It is an embankment along the Anglo-Saxon border between Kent and Surrey which is thought to have been constructed around the 8th century (or possibly even earlier). We will ride out through Sidcup and then cycle round some of the many paths within Joyden's Wood. This woodland is so remote than many of its paths are not even shown on Google maps. Most of the patch are well made-up, but there are a few places where the paths are more suited to horses than bikes and we may then have to do a bit of walking round muddy patches.
After visiting Joyden's Wood we return through Bexley to Danson Park, where we can stop off for some food. We then finish the ride at Falconwood Station has that has regular trains going back to London.
Bring spare tubes, and lights in case we don’t get back before dark.
