Flying Colours - The Only Way Is Essex (Part 2)

Flying Colours 100k ride (Part 2) to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Women's vote.

We will leave the Blackmore Tea Rooms, leaving the Essex Countryside and gradually descending back down though Redbridge and Newham to the Queen Elizabeth Park. Expect more traffic and flatter terrain with traffic lights.

This ride is for experienced riders, confident in traffic and busy main roads, you should have been riding longer distances this summer with hill work and multiple terrains. You should have sufficient gears for hill work on ascents and cope with fast descents, gentle braking in maintaining control on speed and positioning throughout, ensuring adequate distance between riders.

Please ensure your bike is in good working order ready for your ride. Lights required in dark areas, high vis attire recommended. Helmets are mandatory. You must carry a spare inner tube, pump and any other tools needed to remove your wheel, just in case you’re unlucky enough to get a puncture along the way. There are no bike repair shops and therefore must have spares. Please consider if your bike cannot be repaired by the roadside then do you have enough taxi fare to nearest train station.

Don’t forget to bring snacks, water and appropriate clothing for the weather on the day. Bring adequate sun protection and any medication you may require for the day. Some money to purchase at any of the food shops, lunch or Oystercard for onward journey.
