We gather at 08:00 for intros, bike checks and briefing. It is essential that we set off on time as the parkrun briefing and start will not wait for us.

This ride gives Breeze riders a chance to try out riding to a local parkrun event and then either spectate and cheer on others, or walk, walk/run or run the 5k timed event before returning as a group to Hove Lawns.

What is parkrun? Click on the link below but essentially parkrun organise FREE, weekly, 5km timed events. They are open to everyone and are safe and easy to take part in. They are open to people of all abilities. They will welcome us all!

Don’t forget your barcode!

Unless you choose to spectate only, you will need .to sign up to parkrun and print off a barcode (no barcode, no time)

PLEASE REGISTER HERE: (You can register at ANY parkrun, but we suggest you choose the one nearest to where you live or the one you are most likely to revisit if you get the parkrun bug – you can change your local parkrun at any time) Once registered at your chosen parkrun, this barcode can be used at ANY parkrun in the world! YOU ONLY NEED TO REGISTER ONCE AND THEN USE THE SAME BARCODE AT ALL EVENTS. We also recommend that you opt in for text messages of your results. They don’t spam you and it’s so exciting to receive your results later in the day.

The ride takes in the coast road cycle path from Hove Lawns to East Brighton parkrun, we will then mingle with other runners and walkers, take part ourselves or spectate and then have coffee and cake with other participants at the Eden Cafe, on Whitehawk Road

During the parkrun event, the Breeze ride pauses, and you will be free to do what you like.

Once the last of our Breeze participants has had her barcode scanned, and we have had our café stop, the Breeze ride will recommence, and we will ride back to Hove Lawns.

********************

As usual with a Breeze ride, our ride pace will be dictated by the group. We won't leave anyone behind and we will ride together as a group, as much as possible. As far as the parkrun is concerned, you can go at your own pace or with others. We encourage the faster Breeze park runners to cheer on slower or more leisurely paced Breeze park runners.

********************
Facilities. There are toilets at Hove Lawns on the prom and at The Pavillion Cafe. Very occasionally parkruns are cancelled in which case we will ride to another of the local parkruns

********************

Please check your bike before heading out:
- are both tyres fully inflated?
- is the chain clean and lightly oiled?
- do both brakes work?

Bring
Bike lock, drink, snacks, money for the cafes, and an inner tube for your bike (not all inner tubes fit all bikes, and it's easier to change an inner tube than try to fix a puncture by the side of the road!).

********************

If you've got any questions about the ride or parkrun, please contact the main ride leader Maria on 07789 465941. Also let her know if you're booked on the ride but are delayed getting to the start - we will have to leave without you if we are going to miss the start of parkrun
