Starting point

Greater Manchester
M35 0LE

A steady but CHALLENGING in parts road ride; you MUST be COMFORTABLE / CONFIDENT changing lanes on busy A roads for turning right when we bunch up.

At Boggart Hole Clough a STEEP but short DESCENT awaits before traffic-free shared paths take us around the lake when we leave the park to ride along winding but wide Charlestown Road (reduce speed!) towards Blackley then Crumpsall, past the iconic North Manchester General Hospital then Cheetham Hill Village towards our halfway stop for refreshments, inside the vegetarian kosher café of MJM.

After leaving Cheetham Hill Road towards the city centre, we will turn right along Trinity Way towards Manchester Cathedral & Chetham's School of Music, opposite the Football Museum. We'll carefully cross Corporation Street's DOUBLE TRAM LINES x 2 times on the climb to Angel Square then towards the Northern Quarter's (almost) traffic-free Stevenson Square. Then it's onto New Islington towards Ashton Canal. After leaving towpath & residential streets, we'll ride through Sunnybank Park, past Droylsden Cemetery towards Clayton Vale.

We will find a safe/quiet spot on Edge Lane to cross over for our STEEP CLIMB up Berry Brow over the level crossing & along the long & undulating Edge Lane. More roads follow till we get back to GROWE.
