CYCLE HELMETS AND BIKE LIGHTS ARE A MUST!
You will not be permitted to take part in the ride without a correctly fitting bike helmet and bike lights.
WINTER MONTHS CYCLING - During the winter months depending on weather conditions we may unfortunately need to cancel a ride due to safety reasons. Please ensure you check your email notifications from Let's Ride and/or check on Let's Ride website Breeze WWoBs Group to confirm the ride is still taking place.
Gearing Up In The Park is all about learning to use your gears efficiently, enabling you to gain confidence in your cycling and handling of your bike.
This is a 6 week series with the aim to develope your confidence and bike handling skills to enable you to cycle on cycleways and short road sections if you so wish. Don't worry we don't just pedal you our there! We work together pedal by pedal and take the next steps when you are ready.
The route will take in Thornes Park and will stay within the Park parameters.
The route is on mostly tarmac tracks/pathways with some tracks being sturdy gravel.
This is not a race. The session will include lots of stopping and starting to get you used to changing gears. You will learn how to pedal proficiently creating a smoother more comfortable ride.
The session is ideal for ladies new to cycling or wanting to improve how they cycle. It will be a very steady cycle around the park. No one is left behind, we all learn together.
Bike Hire is available by booking directly with Thornes Park Athletic Stadium. See link below to book your bike. If you are booking a bike please do not book your place on the ride until you have confirmation of your bike booking with the centre.
If you book your place but then can not attend please cancel your place so others have the opportunity to join the ride.
Toilets are available in Thornes Park Athletic Stadium.
CYCLING HELMETS MUST BE WORN - You will not be permitted to take part in the session without a cycling helmet.
BIKE LIGHTS - You MUST have bike lights. You will not be permitted to take park in the session without bike lights.
WINTER CYCLING - Make sure you wrap up warm. Better to take layers off than not to have enough! Gloves are highly reccommended.
Please ensure you are wearing suitable clothing for cycling. A full shoe such as trainers are recommended. NO flapping trouser legs which can get caught in the chain.
