'H' for Hedge End

This ride is a circular route from Fair Oak around the country lanes of Durley, Boorley Green and cycle paths of Hedge End. We will meet at Pavilion Close, fair Oak, So50 7ps. Please come to the playing fields car park at the end of Pavilion close, where there is parking available if coming by car. Here we will do a quick bike check. Please note: Some of this ride is along some gravel cycle paths so tyres need to be of a hybrid/off road or mountain bike style-slightly wider tyres as there are some gravel cycle paths that are not suitable for skinny road tyres. We will head out along Botley Road and soon be on the quieter roads, enjoying the views around Durley village, past the Farmers Home pub, round to Boorley Green via quieter lanes and onto Woodhouse Lane, picking up the Cycle paths through Hedge End. We will take a break at ‘The Shamblehurst Barn’ and carry on to Hedge End train station, picking up the cycle path to Bubb Lane, turning onto Blind Lane and Burnetts Lane and back to finish at Pavillion Close, Fair Oak. This ride will be a gentle pace with mainly flatter lanes, roads and cycle paths. Come and give the ride ago, as we will ride at the slowest rider’s pace and no one will be left behind. It’s a good idea to bring some water, money for refreshments and a helmet is advisable with appropriate clothes for weather. Also, check your tyres are pumped up adequately!
