A great route for climbing. After starting from the NCC our route takes us through Clayton Vale where you will be given choice of the path or navigating the light blue accessable route or the slightly more testing dark blue route of the MTB trails. The short off road climb of Rose Hey Lane follows before tackling the slight gradient of Alt Hill Lane. A flat "recovery" section follows then it's steadily up hill to the top of Hartshead Pike. The pace will be kept managable and with the correct use of gears the uphill haul will be as enjoyable as the views from the summit. Equally pleasing, it's downhill practically all the way back.
