The ride on the 1 September takes us a bit further along the same road to Cogsmill. We will stop at the bottom of the hill but there is still a wee bit of a climb to get to that point. From Cogsmill we return to Hawick by the same route. In total this ride is just under 10 miles. It builds on last week's Festival ride but is still a good ride for beginners.

This is a slightly longer ride than in Week 1 of the Hawick Cycling Festival but it is still fairly flat and along a quiet road.

We will follow the Newcastleton road out to Cogsmill but won't attempt the climb, turning at the telephone box to return the same way back to the Heart of Hawick

We'll stop at Cogsmill for a chat and check how everyone is doing before returning to Hawick.

Helmets and suitable clothing to ride your bike is required. You should also bring an inner tube and the tools you need to remove your wheel if you get a puncture. Bringing a drink with you is also often a good idea.

First-timers welcome!
