Hawick to Kelso for cuppa and back

Starting from Teviotdale Leisure Center Car Park, Hawick, head along cycle path emerging onto Hamilton Road. Turn right at junct heading out of Burnfoot. We shall travel straight ahead eventually cycling along the beach then turning right then first left to Ancrum. Crossing A68 cycling through Nisbet, then Roxburgh until we reach the A699. We turn right and follow that road to Kelso Bridge where we turn left and cycle into the center of Kelso. Turn right into Coalmarket then right into The Butts where we stop at the Knowes Eatery for refreshments.
Our return journey starts from the cafe, then heads along Mayfield Riverside Walk emerging onto Kelso Bridge. We continue our journey doing the reverse of route.
The roads are mainly B class and uncl roads. Crossing the A68 twice and spending a short time on the A699. Remember to take care on the country roads looking out for potholes, debris and wildlife. The route has flat sections, rolling hills and descents.
IMPORTANT BUT BORING PART.
Please ensure your bike is in good working condition and your tyres are pumped up. Helmets are mandatory and wear clothing suitable for weather on the day. Please have a spare tube and the necessary tools for your particular bike. If using an E-bike, please ensure your battery is fully charged at the start. If you have any mechanical problems during the route, have a back up plan to get you home.
Remember your money for refreshments. Bring a drink and snack for the journey.
We shall stop when required and for a breather, to take photo's and to regroup.
