Heritage Open Day Ride
Sunday, September 9, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

http://www.mkheritage.org.uk/hodmk/events/get-cycling/

A great afternoon for mums, dads, kids, gramps, friends - and it's all FREE!

This year the Get Cycling MK Heritage Open Day Ride gives you the opportunity to go to three brilliant Heritage Open Day Sites in one go! An easy, short, safe ride along traffic free cycle routes and redways; suitable for all ages and bike types, and led by experienced ride leaders.

And it's all absolutely free!

Start by visiting the MK Museum Open Day :-

Visitors not only have all the Museums normal exhibits, but can also join the annual BEER AND CIDER festival. See the Victorian farmhouse and school room, street of shops, working telephones, Hall of Transport and much more in a beautiful setting of an historical Victorian Model Farm site that was once part of Dr John Radcliffe’s Estate. Allow plenty of time here and bring a picnic or take advantage of the delicious on-site catering. Slightly wobbly riders are welcome but please don't over-do it! :-)

Then at 1.30 gather in the Car Park for a short ride to the Bradwell Windmill Open Day :-

Come and see the early 1800s windmill, restored to working order. The mill will be producing flour from 1400 to 1500. A guided tour of the mill by one of the (volunteer) Millers and discover how this fascinating machine fits into the history and culture of our areas history.

After the tour we will cycle down the North Loughton Valley Park to the Milton Keynes Discovery Centre Open Day :-

Medieval re-enactors, including soldiers, monks, apothecaries, princesses; activities including archery and falconry; lots of stalls, medieval and modern; the English Tea Company, and fun for all the family!

Lastly back to MK Museum stopping for a tour of the Bancroft Roman Villa and a photo opportunity at the Concrete Cows!

We will return to MK Museum at about 4.30-5.00pm.

This is an easy short ride of about 3 miles overall and is suitable for all ages. It's a fantastic opportunity to taste the Heritage, Food, Beer, Activities, and spirit of some of the best attractions in Milton Keynes.

We know that this ride will be over-subscribed but we will try to add ride leaders as numbers demand, so it will be essential to book in advance.
