About the route
Starting point
Starting from Hirst Lock where there is a free car park which can be accessed from Hirst Lane, BD18 4NQ.
We will be taking the towpath all the way into Leeds and calling in for a snack (probably cake!) on the way back at a delightful canal side tearoom. It will be about 28 miles, but will be at an easy pace as we are out to enjoy ourselves. The ride is listed as "challenging" because of the distance, but it is virtually flat.
Please bring a drink and maybe a light snack for top ups along the way, along with some money for the obligatory cake stop.
Please make sure your bike is roadworthy and bring along a spare inner tube of the correct size just in case. The towpath can get muddy after rain so please bear this in mind when choosing what to wear for the ride. Wearing a helmet is advisable.
