Just because the evenings are getting darker and colder doesn’t mean we stop cycling!!!!!

Just make sure you bring gloves and wear suitable warm clothes.

As we will be cycling on a mixture of shared paths, unlit tracks, and quiet roads your FRONT LIGHTS SHOULD BE A 400+ LUMENS.

Starting in The Old Rectory car park in Houghton Rectory Park, we head towards Grasswell using the shared paths and quiet back streets of Houghton. At Grasswell we connect onto the cycle path behind Newbottle School and past Russell Foster Football Centre. Still following the cycle path at the bottom of this road we cycle through and join the old wagonway to Philadelphia. Here we cross the road and follow the quiet road, path and over a field to New Herrington. Again crossing a road and down a quiet road we then arrive at the back Herrington Country Park.
At the Park you will learn why there is a big stone on top of a hill, what sign lines are, Why a metal rib cage and much more. Our return route will be the way we came.

On this route we will be cycling over a variety of different terrains including roads, quiet roads, cycle paths, shared paths, muddy tracks, muddy puddles, wet leaves etc. Therefore, this ride is only suitable for Hybrids or Mountain bikes.

It’s now Autumn/Winter cycling weather, PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY it can get cold on an evening.

REMEMBER TO BRING – Bike Lights, warm gloves, wind/raincoat.
