From the Redworth Road car park, we will follow the cycle path to Locomotion and then on to Newton Aycliffe where we will use the new cycle paths to explore south Aycliffe, meandering our way to the old munitions factory and admiring the new plaque to the Aycliffe Angels. Here we will also try the coffee and snacks at the activity centre within the building.
From here we will travel north through Aycliffe and the nature reserve before returning to Shildon for a last stop at the railway buildings and Timothy Hackworth's (pioneering railway engineer who worked on the S&DR) home, which has now been restored.

A short but history filled ride from Shildon to Newton Aycliffe to find the Aycliffe Angels - a recently unveiled plaque to the women of the Aycliffe Munitions factory

Cycle path and industrial estate roads.

We will stop at ROF59, the site of the plaque and also a cafe and activity centre.

Helmets are always recommended as are warm clothes, layers, full finger winter gloves and warm socks and buffs. It is always useful to bring waterproofs as well. Please also bring along a spare inner tube, suitable for your wheel, tyre levers and a pump.

We especially welcome newbies!
