From Leverhulme Park we cross the bridges and cycle towards the hospital to get on the Roe Green Line. We leave the Roe Green Line where it crosses the M60 and head to Cutacre Country Park. Then it’s down to Tyldesley and through Higher Fold to the Bridgewater Canal. Leaving the canal at Ashley we head further south across the Mosses and past the ‘Dr Who’ house before stopping at Irlam Station for a café stop. The route back is along a cycle path beside the Liverpool Rd until we get to Barton Airdrome when we use cycle paths and side roads to get back to the Roe Green Line and then back to Bolton - 32 miles in total. Some sections are gravel and could be muddy so not suitable for road bikes. There are also some short unavoidable sections on main roads, so you need to be comfortable with road riding. Please bring a helmet, spare inner tube and money for the café stop.

If you have not done it before, riding across the Mosses and visiting Irlam station is an experience
