Starting at the car park for Dawley Pools, we set off on traffic free trails downhill into Coalbrookdale. From there we pick up the road into and through Ironbridge and on to Jackfield. Once past the tile museum (always an option for a toilet or cafe stop if we feel we need it, or indeed a quick look around) we pick up the Severn Valley Way to Coalport and then the Silken Way back up to Dawley.
There are ups and downs on this this ride - it’s fairly steep down to Ironbridge and then is more of a gradual climb back up to Dawley. It really doesn’t matter how long it takes us though - no one is ever left behind.
There are some rough sections on the downhill part, so a bike with tyres to deal with that is advisable. There will be sections where I will make the group dismount and walk for safety reasons - you might fly down them on your own but a group ride requires more caution so please listen to my judgement.

A lovely, mostly traffic free ride, using trails and lanes to take us from Dawley through Ironbridge Gorge.

Most of this ride is on traffic free trails, but there are some road sections. Ironbridge itself is traffic free on weekends and the other roads we use are fairly quiet.

We will stop at Coalport YHA for a well earned cuppa and a slice of cake.

You should have a bike that is in good working order and the means to fix a puncture, even if you do not know how to do it yourself - help will be offered. You should dress for the weather, remembering that you will warm up as you ride and cool down when we stop - layers are a good idea. Bring water for the ride and a lock and money for the cafe stop. Helmets are strongly recommended and are compulsory for under 18s. Please bring a face mask to wear in the cafe and in the event that first aid needs to be administered.

New to cycling? Perfect - we love new comers! This ride does have a few hills but don’t worry, we never leave anyone behind and walking is always an option.
