Enjoy the Spring weather with this gentle ride though the Kent valley. Using quiet country roads we quickly leave Kendal and visit Natland, Sedgwick and Sizergh before returning via Prizet. There's only traffic noise for one short section along the cycle path beside the A591 - otherwise it's all country lanes with great views.

Plenty of coffee and snacks stops, either at Low Sizergh Barn, Sizergh Castle or the Ice Cream Farm.

We'll see signs of local history, from remains of a Roman fort to the home of a gunpowder maker at Sedgwick. Our turning point at Sizergh Castle has been owned by the same family for more than 700 years. It was once the home of Thomas Strickland, who led the famous Kendal bowmen at the Battle of Agincourt.

Free parking, toilets and an end-of ride swim if you want it at Kendal Leisure Centre.
