From The Leggers Inn we will start out along the Ossett Greenway to Horbury before heading down Green Lane to Pugneys, and then to Sandal Castle.
From there we will pass the Hepworth Gallery and through Thornes Park before heading back to Leggers via Green Lane, Horbury and Ossett.
Please be aware that there are hills along the route.
At this distance the Met Office weather forecast for 10:00 Sunday looks like white cloud with temperatures of 14°C and winds gusting up to 14 mph.
Please check the forecast for yourselves on Sunday morning.

After leaving The Leggers Inn this ride travels along the traffic-free Ossett Greenway and then through Horbury and Pugneys before arriving at Sandal Castle. There is a short steep section on the Ossett Greenway but ‘short’ is the keyword. This could not be classed as a hilly route but there are other gradients along the way so be prepared to be challenged on occasions.

We will travel along a combination of greenways, a short section of canal bank and tarmac roads. We will encounter a reasonable amount of traffic on the tarmac sections so riders will need to be confident in those situations. Mountain bikes, hybrids and gravel bikes should be ok on this ride.

A toilet stop can be taken at Pugneys. A circuit of the castle may be taken if time/conditions are favourable.

Helmets are mandatory on all Kirklees Riders outings. Please bring a spare inner tube suitable for the tyres on the bike you are riding. I would also remind you that this is not a guided ride and that each participant remains responsible for their own actions or omissions at all times.

We never leave anyone behind
