Kirklees Riders - The Luddite & Bronte Trail

The ride will start out along the Spen Valley Greenway up to Heckmondwyke.
From there we will head up to Hightown and across to Hartsheads. On route we will be passing houses, a church and various other monuments with Bronte and Luddite connections.

From Hartshead we will drop down through Battyford, back onto the Mirfield Greenway to Ravensthorpe before heading back to Leggers.

There are a few hills on this ride so please be prepared to accept the challenge.

This Sunday’s ride will head up the Greenway to Heckmondwyke and then Hightown, Hartshead and the Mirfield Greenway before heading back to Leggers.

We will travel along a combination of greenways and tarmac roads. We will encounter a reasonable amount of traffic on the tarmac sections so riders will need to be confident in those situations. Mountain bikes or hybrids with off-road tyres are more suited to this ride. Road tyres will struggle in places.

Please bring a spare inner tube suitable for the tyres on the bike you are riding. Helmets are mandatory on all Kirklees Riders outings.
