This is a great, easy going ride for the youngsters and their mums and dads. There's a short stretch on the road to get to Elterwater village where we take a lovely bridleway which follows the crystal clear waters of Langdale Beck. We'll pause by the shore of Elterwater itself, notable for it's resident swans and the views of the Langdale Pikes. Then we head downstream to Skelwith Force (waterfall) and Skelwith Bridge. Here there is Chester's cafe to whet your whistle, a slate craft shop and paddling in the river. After everyone is rested we'll head back, retracing the outward route but this time you'll see the high fells towering in front of you. Save some energy for the last bit as we take the bridleway towards Elterwater quarry and drop down behind the Wainwrights Inn for a well-deserved bacon butty!
