Leeds to Bradford via Cycle Superhighway

Come and try the CS1 Cycle Superhighway!

This is a 9-mile segregated cycle route joining Leeds and Bradford and we will follow the dedicated path all the way from Armley to Bradford city centre. It is a steady climb from Armley to Thornbury, after which we'll enjoy the mostly downhill stretch into Bradford. On the return leg, it's a short sharp climb out of the city centre (past Bradford Cathedral) then a steady uphill through Barkerend to Thornbury again followed by some nice fast downhill stretches back to Armley. We'll match the pace to the slowest riders and will stop for frequent rests to catch our breath if necessary - no-one gets left behind!

The route passes through Bramley, Stanningley, Thornbury and Barkerend before skirting round the back of the new Broadway shopping centre and entering Centenary Square via Market Street. We'll stop for refreshments at the Pavilion Cafe opposite the mirror pool in the square, before returning via the same route back to our start point.

The ride will start in the car park of Armley Mills Industrial Museum (on Canal Road, don't drive down to the museum) from where we'll join the CS1 opposite the exit from Armley Park. For anyone wishing to join the ride further along the Cycle Superhighway, rather than cycling to Armley for the start, we can pick you up and drop you off at the following locations:
- Swinnow Rd / Stanningley Rd (near Bramley Station)
- Richardshaw Lane / Stanningley Bottom viaduct
- Dawsons Corner (near New Pudsey Station)
- Leeds Rd / Thornbury roundabout
